WWE Files Trademark Applications For Multiple Ring Names And Nicknames

WWE has made another major move behind the scenes, filing several new trademark applications that could signal future character debuts and branding plans.

On February 27, 2026, World Wrestling Entertainment filed applications with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) to secure rights to two nicknames and five wrestler ring names.

The two nicknames WWE filed to trademark are:

• Lasskicker
• The Vanity Project

In addition, WWE filed trademark applications for five potential wrestler ring names:

• Sean Legacy
• Eli Knight
• Jackson Drake
• Ricky Smokes
• Brad Baylor

These filings strongly suggest WWE is preparing new character identities, likely for emerging talent within NXT or future developmental prospects.

The official filing description outlines WWE’s intent to use these trademarks across a wide range of entertainment services, including live wrestling performances, television broadcasts, online streaming, fan engagement platforms, and digital media.

“Entertainment services, namely, wrestling exhibitions and performances by a professional wrestler and entertainer rendered live and through broadcast media including television and radio, and via the internet or commercial online service; providing wrestling news and information via a global computer network; providing information in the fields of sports and entertainment via an online community portal; providing a website in the field of sports entertainment information; fan club services, namely, organizing sporting events in the field of wrestling for wrestling fan club members; organizing social entertainment events for entertainment purposes for wrestling fan club members; providing online newsletters in the fields of sports entertainment; online journals, namely blogs, in the field of sports entertainment.”

Trademark filings are a common step WWE takes before introducing new characters, rebranding existing talent, or protecting intellectual property for future creative plans.
