Fans didn’t stop voicing their frustration after the April 10, 2026 episode of WWE SmackDown, and the backlash kept growing once more clips from the show hit YouTube.

Following the earlier negative reaction to Jelly Roll and Pat McAfee’s backstage segment, fans also turned on Pat McAfee’s in-ring promo that was later interrupted by Cody Rhodes and ended with Randy Orton blindsiding Cody. The segment was uploaded as a full clip after the show, and the reaction quickly tilted heavily negative.

At the time of checking the video shortly after upload, the clip showed nearly twice as many dislikes as likes, signaling that viewers weren’t just frustrated—they were actively rejecting the direction of the storyline involving McAfee and Jelly Roll.

The comment section filled up fast, with fans calling out what they felt was an over-reliance on celebrity involvement instead of focusing on WWE’s core roster. One fan mocked the creative direction leading into WrestleMania.

“When we think WrestleMania can't get worse, Hunter always finds a way to prove us wrong 😂😂😂😂”

Another viewer pointed out how strange it felt seeing a major WWE star seemingly play second fiddle during the segment. “Having Randy Orton being a supporting character to Pat Mcafee is wild.” Some reactions compared the segment to widely criticized TV endings. “This is like watching Season 8 of Game of Thrones all over again.”

Others admitted they were already losing interest before the segment even escalated.

“I almost changed the channel just hearing mcafee alone talk 😂”

There were also comments suggesting the angle could hurt WrestleMania interest rather than build excitement. “After this segment, you will need to offer 50% off tickets for Saturday…” Another fan took aim at the celebrity-heavy approach overall. “The ticket prices and the celebrities are what’s gonna ruin WrestleMania, again”

Some viewers even questioned whether the segment helped or hurt Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton’s storyline.

“You can literally hear them begging you to pay for tickets and it’s almost as bad as having these two ruin Cody and Randy’s match.”

The reaction across multiple clips paints a clear picture—fans aren’t just upset about one moment. Many appear to be pushing back against the ongoing Pat McAfee angle and Jelly Roll’s involvement as WrestleMania season builds momentum.

With Randy Orton blindsiding Cody Rhodes as part of the segment, the storyline itself is clearly meant to escalate tension heading into WrestleMania. However, the strong negative feedback suggests WWE may have a tough time winning fans over if the celebrity focus continues at this level.

What do you think about the Pat McAfee and Jelly Roll angle heading into WrestleMania—are fans being too harsh, or is WWE leaning too hard into celebrity involvement? Let us know your thoughts and share your feedback.
