WWE could be heading back to China in a big way—and this time, the talk isn’t just about a live event.

According to Fightful Select, multiple influential figures within WWE have been pushing hard behind the scenes to bring a Premium Live Event to Hong Kong.

Apparently internal discussions have been going on for several months, with “numerous people of influence within WWE” pushing for a major show in the region. While nothing has been officially announced, the idea of bringing a full-scale WWE PLE to China has apparently picked up real traction.

WWE has only held eight events in China throughout its history, with six of those taking place in Shanghai. Between 2016 and 2019, the company made it something of a yearly tradition to visit China each September—until the COVID pandemic in 2020 brought everything to a screeching halt. WWE hasn’t run a show there since.

Now, with international expansion a top priority again, WWE may be ready to make China a key player in its global strategy—starting with Hong Kong.

A Premium Live Event in Hong Kong would mark WWE’s first-ever show in the region and signal a major move toward strengthening its footprint in East Asia.
