WWE released ten NXT performers just six days ago. Several big names were among them, including Dakota Kai, Dexter Lumis, Persia Pirotta, and Malcolm Bivens. Further firings could be coming sooner and more frequently than fans would like to think.
As WWE ramps up its recruitment program, talent is being given less of a chance to stick. If a wrestler isn’t showing improvement over a given evaluation period, they are subject to their release. The company is looking for those who pick things up quickly and can get right to work in NXT.
Andrew Zarian talked today about the potential for more WWE releases. Zarian said he was told to expect more releases soon. Those releases will become a regular occurrence for WWE going forward.
“I want to clarify a convo we had on the air today regarding more releases.
What I was told: “Talent is constantly evaluated on progress. Expect more releases soon & regularly” (Regarding Developmental talent)
I made an error by saying ‘very soon'”
No exact timetable was given. NXT fans shouldn’t be surprised when news breaks of even more talent cuts. That will be the modus operandi for the developmental brand going forward.
We will have to wait and see when and who the next batch of NXT releases will be. One thing is for sure, these are nervous times for the talent in Orlando. If wrestlers aren’t performing to their expectations, they can expect to get their walking papers.
