The long-rumored return of WWE Evolution may finally be getting some clarity, but it’s not the timeline fans expected.

According to a new report from PWInsider Elite on May 12, WWE is now eyeing the weekend of July 12 in Atlanta for the all-women’s event.

The report states that the show is being timed to coincide with a Saturday Night’s Main Event taping the same weekend, which would make Evolution a part of a stacked lineup. This is a significant shift from the original rumor, which pegged the event for July 5 at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Connecticut — a date that had been circulating since March, when WrestleVotes first reported on it.

While WWE has yet to make any official announcement, the speculation continues to swirl. During a recent Fightful Select Q&A, Sean Ross Sapp revealed that even WWE talent has been kept in the dark about the event’s status. “So Evolution, it’s something I’ve been following up on a lot. Talent that I have talked to don’t know about it. I haven’t heard about it, so working on it as we speak,” Sapp said, casting doubt on how locked-in these plans actually are.

Adding to the confusion, Charlotte Flair also addressed the Evolution rumors in a recent interview, admitting she’s just as in the dark as everyone else. “I really don’t know. I hope it does. I hear all these rumors. I mean, it’s been a couple of years, so I think it would be a good time to [do it],” Flair said.

For Flair, the focus isn’t just on one event. “I think, really, it’s just more about having more women’s storylines and more women’s main events,” she added, emphasizing that WWE needs to focus on consistent representation for its female stars.

With the date and location for Evolution 2 seemingly in flux, will WWE finally lock in their plans and give fans the long-awaited announcement, or is this event still a moving target? Stay tuned as more updates unfold.
