WWE may have just tipped its hand when it comes to Aleister Black’s rumored return.
During the April 11 episode of SmackDown, fans were treated to yet another eerie vignette—this time showing a dimly lit chair surrounded by candles in a smoky room. The second the clip aired, longtime fans of the Dutch-born star knew exactly what was up.

This isn’t the first time WWE used that visual. In 2021, right before Black’s WWE exit, he appeared in a near-identical scene while reading Tales of the Dark Father, a storyline that was scrapped shortly before his release. Now, the company is pulling from the same playbook—and they didn’t stop there.
Right after the video aired, Zelina Vega—Black’s real-life wife—was featured in a match on the same episode. Coincidence? Fans don’t think so.
But here’s the real kicker: the mysterious video flashed the number 4 and the Roman numeral XXV. That has led fans to believe that Black is coming back on April 25, the first SmackDown after WrestleMania 41. That would be a huge return just days after WWE’s biggest show of the year.
Aleister Black had a dominant run in NXT, but his main roster time was cut short and often misused. With Triple H now running the entire creative show in WWE, this could be the reset Black never got—if it’s really him.
