WWE’s decision to bring Tony Hinchcliffe into WrestleMania 42 week is already getting dragged in a big way— and fans aren’t holding back.

As soon as the announcement dropped, reactions flooded Twitter on March 23, 2026, with many questioning why WWE is revisiting this crossover in the first place. Some fans immediately called out the partnership itself, questioning why WWE continues to work with Hinchcliffe: “Why do yall keep working with this guy?”

Others pointed to WWE’s previous attempt to integrate the show during SummerSlam 2025 weekendwhich ended up being canceled — suggesting the company is repeating a mistake: “Didn’t we try this as it went terrible??! 😂” The criticism quickly expanded beyond just the event, with some fans taking shots at WWE’s overall creative direction: “WWE in 2026 when it comes to booking dog s***”

Another fan directly referenced the New Jersey cancellation, making it clear they don’t expect this to go any differently.“Right, because last time went so f****** well. Shoutout to when it got canceled in NJ cause no one wanted to see this crap” And for some, the blame landed squarely on leadership, with Triple H being called out for trying to push WWE into a different kind of entertainment space: “Triple H is so desperate to be Joe Rogan / Dana White-lite.”

All of that backlash comes after WWE officially announced Kill Tony: WrestleMania, a late-night comedy event featuring Tony Hinchcliffe as part of WrestleMania 42 week in Las Vegas.

The show is scheduled for Saturday, April 18 at Dolby Live inside Park MGM, immediately following Night One of WrestleMania 42 at Allegiant Stadium, with a 9 PM PT start time to allow fans to travel between venues.

WWE is promoting the event in partnership with Hinchcliffe and the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, aiming to blend wrestling with comedy through a crossover-style experience.

The format will stick to Kill Tony’s established structure, featuring aspiring comedians performing short sets, followed by live critiques from Hinchcliffe and a panel — with WWE Superstars, Legends, comedians, and celebrity guests expected to be part of the show.

Bottom line — WWE is trying to expand WrestleMania 42 week into a full entertainment experience, but this move is already getting a lot of hate from fans before it even happens.
