WWE hasn’t locked in a WrestleMania 42 match for Rhea Ripley yet, but if any women’s bout is being seriously considered to main event, it’s Ripley vs. IYO SKY.
During the January 13, 2026 episode of Self Made Sessions, Self Made Pro revealed that WWE has specifically discussed a Rhea Ripley vs. IYO SKY singles match as the only women’s match currently viewed as headline-worthy.
“The only women’s match that would main event WrestleMania this year would be that matchup, Rhea vs. IYO. So IYO vs. Rhea would be a match that could main event one of the nights, and that has been mentioned in meetings.”
However, he made it clear that these internal discussions haven’t led to a decision yet. Self Made Pro also confirmed that the Women’s World Title match itself remains undecided.
“I want to say this clearly: they’ve discussed it, and they have mentioned that IYO vs. Rhea is something they view as main-event level, but there are no guarantees that they’re actually going to do it. So that’s still up in the air. As of now, they don’t know what the Women’s World Title match is going to be, for the record.”
This update follows the January 5 episode of Self Made Sessions, where Ripley and IYO’s Women’s Tag Team Title win over the Kabuki Warriors was reported as a Raw milestone, not a WrestleMania indicator—done largely to fill TV time with top stars.
Even then, if WWE is planning for a women’s match to headline either night of WrestleMania 42, Ripley vs. IYO is the one they’ve acknowledged as worthy.
