WrestleMania 42’s location drama just got even messier.

Earlier this year, The Rock made it official: WrestleMania 42 was coming to New Orleans in 2026. But now, WWE is pulling out of the Big Easy—and according to a report from NOLA.com, the company’s new leadership may already have their eyes on a different destination: Las Vegas.

“After the success of this year’s event, the new leadership running WWE decided that they would rather hold next year’s event in Las Vegas and see what response they get from fans,” an unnamed industry source told the outlet. The source was not authorized to speak publicly.

So far, WWE hasn’t confirmed the move, and PWInsider’s Mike Johnson says the Vegas claim has not been independently verified. What has been confirmed is that WrestleMania 42 is no longer happening in New Orleans—despite all the prior announcements, hype, and planning.

Back in April, WWE and the Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation issued a joint statement quietly backing out of the original April 11–12, 2026 date, saying the show “will move from the currently scheduled 2026 timeframe to a future year.” The financials likely played a role, as WWE continues to chase multi-million-dollar site fees. Las Vegas reportedly paid $5 million for WrestleMania 41, while New Jersey is on the hook for $7.1 million for SummerSlam.

There’s still a strong chance WWE could go international, too. London and Mexico remain top rumored picks, especially after WWE’s prior meetings with city leaders and increased interest in global expansion.

At this point, anything’s possible—and fans, promoters, and cities alike are waiting to see where WWE’s biggest show will land next.
