Bad Bunny may have spoken too soon—but he might’ve been onto something after all.
Earlier this year, the global music icon and WWE collaborator stirred up major talk when he hinted that WWE Backlash could be heading to Mexico. While his comments didn’t come with any confirmed date or location, fans ran with it. At the time, sources were quick to shoot it down, insisting that no such plans were locked in. But now? That tune might be changing.
According to WrestleVotes, who spoke during Backstage Pass Q&A, WWE is “seriously considering” bringing a premium live event to Mexico, with 2026 emerging as the most likely target.
“Mexico has been discussed heavily. I don’t know if it’s official,” WrestleVotes said. “The London thing is always there. They’re always wanting shows. They always put themselves out there to get big shows. Look, WWE is gonna go where they make the most money. Internationally has been selling out just as much as domestic.”
So while Bad Bunny might’ve jumped the gun on Backlash, it sounds like the company hasn’t closed the door on heading south of the border in the near future.
For now, Backlash 2025 is set for May 10 at the Enterprise Center in St. Louis, Missouri, but talks of Mexico hosting a future event have reignited fan excitement about WWE’s global plans.
