John Cena’s retirement tour is slowly reaching its end with around four months left. While WWE hasn’t locked down the date for his final match, it appears they are considering changing the date for the bout just so that they can compete with AEW.

While speaking on Wrestling Observer Live, Bryan Alvarez noted that WWE is considering changing the date of John Cena’s final match so it would take place on December 27, the same day as AEW World’s End.

Alvarez explained that the original plan was for the match to happen in early December at Saturday Night’s Main Event, but there is now a discussion about moving it. The idea would be to run the match head-to-head with AEW World’s End.

“I also should mention this because we’ve been talking about it. So, you know, originally the final John Cena match was going to be in early December, Saturday Night’s Main Event. And this is not confirmed, okay, but it does look like there is now discussion that that date will be moved.

So, it will be head-to-head with AEW World’s End. And we did talk about how there was going to be one more of these before the year was out. And I think they’re going to try and put the final John Cena match on Saturday Night’s Main Event in Boston head-to-head with World’s End. So, we’ll see if that ends up happening.”

This comes after we had previously reported that WWE still had not finalized John Cena’s retirement tour. It’s also no surprise WWE might just go head-to-head with Worlds End since WWE has already done several shows against AEW and will do even more now. Therefore, we’ll have to see if WWE decides to pit Cena’s final match against AEW in the end.
