As seen at Sunday’s Great Balls of Fire event, the RAW Women’s Championship match between Alexa Bliss and Sasha Banks ended via countout. After the match WWE did an angle that saw Alexa and Sasha brawl, with Sasha getting the upper hand.
Dave Meltzer discussed this angle on today’s installment of Wrestling Observer Radio and indicated that the two will probably have another inconclusive match on RAW with a blowoff match at next month’s SummerSlam event.
Meltzer also mentioned that the plans for this match finish changed hours before the show. Originally Alexa was supposed to pin Sasha Banks clean and move into a program with Nia Jax heading into SummerSlam, but that obviously didn’t happen. This match also saw a huge shift in the betting odds right before Great Balls of Fire went on the air. This would support Meltzer’s claims that there was a change in plans at last minute.
