WWE isn’t being subtle anymore—they’re flexing their muscle, and AEW’s biggest U.S. event just got caught in the crosshairs.
During his appearance on Podcast Heat Wrestling, D’Lo Brown didn’t sugarcoat the situation when asked about WWE stacking the same night as AEW’s upcoming All In show with a massive World Heavyweight Championship match between Goldberg and Gunther at Saturday Night’s Main Event.
The timing? According to D’Lo, it’s no coincidence—it’s WWE doing what they’ve always done when they want to remind the competition who’s king.
“I think it’s—it’s a situation of, and I’ll steal a line from a good friend of mine, ‘know your role.’ It is just—you’re number two in the pecking order, and if you don’t believe it, we’re gonna show you. And if you don’t believe it, we’re gonna show you repeatedly until you do believe it. And not that there’s anything bad, wrong with being number two in the pecking order. It’s just—it’s WWE’s way of saying, ‘This is—this is our world, we’re going to play in it as we want.’”
D’Lo knows the playbook well from his time watching WWE go toe-to-toe with TNA back in the day. He made it clear—this is how WWE has always operated when the competition starts getting a little too confident.
“You’ve been with the competition when TNA was running against WWE. They would find ways to do certain things to maneuver themselves as reminding them, ‘Hey, by the way, you’re still underneath us.’”
When asked if this is part of a calculated strategy or just WWE throwing their weight around, D’Lo had the perfect response.
“Uh, yes and no. I believe they know they—they’re there. And I think at first maybe they were a little concerned. Now it’s just, we’re the thousand-pound gorilla, and we’re gonna—we’re gonna—we’re gonna make our waves as we want. And if you’re in the wake, who cares? And don’t try to do anything because we’ll just counter-program you more. I mean, our number two or number three show will put up against you and beat you.”
And in classic D’Lo fashion, he summed it all up with the reality WWE doesn’t even try to hide anymore.
“It’s just—it’s just a case of what WWE is doing. They’re the—you know—they’re the monster in the room and they know it.”
With AEW’s biggest U.S. show right around the corner and WWE throwing down the Goldberg vs. Gunther hammer on the same night, the message couldn’t be clearer—WWE knows their power, and they’re not afraid to use it.
