WWE may be scaling back its live event schedule, but its recent holiday tour proved that when the company shows up, fans still show out.
According to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select, two stops in particular delivered big numbers. The December 30 show in Baltimore and the January 3 event in Worcester both became the highest-grossing WWE house shows in their cities’ history—a major feat considering WWE no longer runs as many non-televised events.
Baltimore’s show notably replaced the traditional December 26 Madison Square Garden event, which WWE skipped for the first time in years. Meanwhile, Worcester’s crowd packed in just days into the new year.
Both shows were headlined by a marquee matchup: Cody Rhodes vs. Drew McIntyre. In Baltimore, the two squared off in a No DQ match, while the Worcester crowd witnessed the two clash inside a steel cage—a fitting main event for a tour that over-delivered in more ways than one.
Even with a reduced house show calendar, WWE’s brand power is clearly alive and well—especially when it brings top names and premium matches to local fans.
