Natalya may have delivered a standout performance in the NWA earlier this year, but fans still haven’t seen it—and now it looks like WWE is the reason why.
Back in May, Natalya made her NWA debut during the Crockett Cup, challenging Kenzie Paige for the NWA Women’s Championship. While she didn’t walk away with the title, the match was praised behind the scenes. But despite being recorded, the footage has never been aired—and now Fightful Select is reporting that WWE is to blame.
“After Nattie Neidhart’s interview with Cody Rhodes, we had a number of readers also asking about her NWA match. It didn’t end up airing, and was heavily implied it was WWE that made that decision.”
To make matters even more confusing, fans are now seeing title changes online that happened months ago—but only recently got official recognition from NWA. According to Fightful, those title switches actually took place in August, but weren’t acknowledged by the company until the episodes finally aired nearly three months later.
“There is some confusion among fans regarding some NWA Title changes of late. The title changes you’re seeing on social media were actually filmed back in August, but not acknowledged by the NWA until they aired nearly three months later.”
In the meantime, NWA had those champions continue to defend their belts at independent shows even after they had technically lost them—just to keep spoilers from leaking early.
“NWA actually did something that used to happen in many areas and had the champions who lost their title compete in matches on the indies defending those belts until it aired.”
Natalya’s match with Kenzie Paige would have been a big moment for the NWA brand, especially with crossover interest from WWE fans. But now it’s collecting dust—never broadcast and likely shelved indefinitely.
As the NWA tries to find its footing with delayed title updates and WWE reportedly pulling content, fans are left confused and disappointed. Whether WWE was protecting its own branding or just didn’t want its contracted star associated with NWA’s ongoing broadcast chaos, it’s the fans who lose out.
Do you think WWE was right to block Natalya’s NWA match from airing—or should they have let fans enjoy the crossover moment? Let us know what you think in the comments below.
