WWE 2K26 just got even crazier—with four new match types now confirmed for this year’s game, including some long-awaited fan favorites.
According to a January 16, 2026 report from Insider Gaming, sources have revealed that WWE 2K26 will feature four brand-new match types, making it the most varied installment in the franchise to date. Three of the matches are returning classics, while one is making its debut in a WWE 2K title.
The biggest reveal? The return of the I Quit Match, which hasn’t been featured in the series since WWE 2K14, released back in October 2013.
“The first new type is the I Quit match. The match hasn’t been seen since WWE 2K14, but is making a return after 13 years,” the outlet reported.
Also returning is the legendary Inferno Match, where players can win by setting their opponent on fire. As expected, the flames grow higher as more brutal moves are performed, delivering some intense visual drama not seen in recent 2K entries.
“The Inferno Match is returning after 13 years. The last time it appeared in a WWE game was also WWE 2K14.”
Another returning stipulation? The 3 Stages of Hell match—popularized in the SmackDown vs. Raw era—where players select three different match types for a brutal 2-out-of-3 falls battle. It’s been gone for years, but not anymore: “This match has players select three different stipulations for a 2-out-of-3 falls match.”
As for completely new content, WWE 2K26 will introduce the Dumpster Match for the very first time. Details are still under wraps, but early speculation suggests it may work like the Casket Match—requiring players to toss their opponent into a dumpster to win. Insider Gaming notes that more info is expected soon.
“The Dumpster Match is making its debut in the WWE 2K series… It’s possible that it’ll be akin to the Casket Match.”
And in a final update, Intergender Matches—which made their debut in WWE 2K25—will return this year and will also be playable in MyFACTION mode, further expanding how players can use the entire roster: “It’s also been said that they will even be a part of MyFACTION.”
With I Quit, Inferno, 3 Stages of Hell, and the Dumpster Match now added to an already stacked lineup, WWE 2K26 is going all-in on variety and violence. And the best part? The official trailer hasn’t even dropped yet.
