WWE 2K25 recently released DLC featuring a storyline between Bray Wyatt and the Wyatt Sicks. While it was only released last month, it appears the lead writer for the storyline has revealed the original plans for the entire quest.

While speaking on Not Sam Wrestling, Andrea Listenberger, the Lead Writer and Senior Narrative Designer behind the Wyatt Sicks and Bray Wyatt storyline in WWE 2K25, explained that the main inspiration for the quest came from various vignettes shown on WWE television.

Listenberger talked about unused audio recordings and cutscenes from WWE 2K22, which were originally removed after Bray Wyatt’s release from the company. There had been plans to reuse and expand on this material for WWE 2K24 with added audio content. However, following Wyatt’s passing the team decided it would not feel right to include a Bray Wyatt quest in MyRise, even if all the recordings had been completed.

“The big inspiration for this quest in general was a lot of the vignettes they did on WWE TV. I started thinking about the audio recordings and cutscenes we had from WWE 2K22. We had talked about reusing them when Bray Wyatt was still alive, because the reason they were originally cut was that he had just been released from the company.

We originally had plans to repurpose them for 2K24 with some additional audio content. But then, with the timing of his passing, that didn’t work out. It wasn’t right, and it didn’t make sense for us to just put a Bray Wyatt quest in MyRise. It wouldn’t have felt good, even if we had all the audio recordings completed.”

The emotional storyline featuring Bray Wyatt was a huge addition to WWE 2K25’s Island and considering the fact the content was supposed to be used last year, fans feel it was for the best that they decided to delay it for another year.

Do you think delaying the Bray Wyatt quest until WWE 2K25 made it more special, or would you have preferred to see it in WWE 2K24? Sound off in the comments.
