WBNA player Kalani Brown, who is the center for the Phoenix Mercury, has revealed that she was contacted by WWE with an invitation to attend a tryout.

Brown took to Twitter and revealed that she had received a direct message from Macy Zaban, WWE’s Manager of Talent ID and Development, through the official WWE Recruit page. The message said WWE sees her as a good fit, invited her to a tryout with other athletes, and promised to cover travel and hotel costs.

“Hey Kalani, I hope this finds you well!

This is Macy Zaban from the Talent ID and Recruitment Division here at the WWE. We have identified you as a potential great fit for the brand. I am reaching out to see if you might be interested in an opportunity to tryout for the WWE?

At a tryout we bring a select group of athletes from across the world. All travel, flights and hotels are covered by us. Please let me know your interest and we’d be happy to setup a call to discuss further.”

After people started talking about it, someone on Twitter said she might make more money in wrestling than in the WNBA. Brown replied that she didn’t say no, but wondered if she could really do it, saying, “Oh I never said NO.. Its more so like a “Can I really do it??? 🤔” Idkkkkk😂🤷🏾‍♀️”

Another fan said she is tall, athletic, and beautiful but not getting much playing time, and should take the chance with WWE before she is pushed out of the league.

“I mean you’re tall, beautiful, athletic and get no playing time…. You better take the opportunity now before you get bounced out of the W🤷🏿‍♂️”

Brown answered by saying that if she ever leaves basketball, it will be her own choice and on her own terms, saying, “If I leave, it’ll be on my own terms babes.. Believe that.”

Kalani Brown is currently in her fifth WNBA season. She began her professional career with the Los Angeles Sparks, later moving on to the Atlanta Dream and Dallas Wings before joining the Mercury in 2025. It’s clear she is weighing her options right now, so it remains to be seen whether she will decide to pursue a career in WWE soon enough.

Do you think Kalani Brown should take WWE up on its offer and try out, or should she continue focusing on her WNBA career? Sound off in the comments.
