Will Ospreay’s AEW Revolution return didn’t just signal that he’s back — it also revealed how long the road to recovery really was.
After making his surprise comeback at the March 15 AEW Revolution pay-per-view at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, Ospreay took to Instagram on March 16, 2026 and shared a video of the moment he returned to the arena. Along with the footage, Ospreay revealed the timeline behind his recovery from neck surgery, confirming when the operation took place and when doctors finally cleared him to compete again.
“Double fusion Surgery date: 17th September 2025
Got cleared: 25th February 2026
Back: 15th March 2026”
This shows that Ospreay spent several months recovering from the procedure before being medically cleared late in February. Less than three weeks later, he made his return in front of a live AEW pay-per-view audience.
Ospreay had been out of action since suffering a serious neck injury that kept him away from AEW programming following Forbidden Door. Earlier in 2026, AEW President Tony Khan confirmed that the former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion was recovering but did not provide a specific timetable for his return. That changed at Revolution during one of the night’s most chaotic moments.
Jon Moxley defended the AEW Continental Championship against Konosuke Takeshita in a brutal match with no time limit, marking the first time the title had been contested without the usual time restriction. Both men pushed each other to the limit in a violent encounter that left Takeshita busted open and the crowd fully invested in the fight.
After surviving multiple near falls — including Takeshita kicking out of both a Death Rider and an Avalanche Death Rider — Moxley ultimately retained the championship by locking in a chokehold submission that caused Takeshita to pass out. But the night wasn’t over.
Moments after the match ended, a hype video for Ospreay aired in the arena. The returning star then appeared and rushed toward the ring, immediately attacking Moxley’s Death Riders faction and sending them scrambling. Before Ospreay could fully get his hands on him, Moxley backed away and exited the scene, avoiding a direct confrontation with the returning challenger.
Ospreay’s post now confirms that his comeback came less than three weeks after he was medically cleared following the double fusion surgery — marking the end of a recovery process that began in September 2025.
