The May 21st edition of AEW Dynamite featured an incredible back-and-forth promo segment between Will Ospreay and Hangman Page, and now Ospreay has revealed that his promo was unscripted.

While speaking on Busted Open Radio, Will Ospreay revealed that his promo on Dynamite was mostly off the cuff and unscripted. He explained that while he had a few bullet points in mind, most of what he said came straight from the heart in the moment.

Ospreay stated that many of his promos are based on real emotions and his personal journey to where he is now. Although he knows there will come a time when he can’t rely solely on realism, for now, he wants to stay true to himself and keep things authentic.

“This time I really wanted to harness in on it. During that promo, a lot of things were coming off the cuff. There are certain things I had, like bullet points in my head, but a lot of times I’m just spitting, boss man. Like, I’m just saying what I feel with my heart right now.

A lot of my promos are just real and how I feel about the situation and the journey that I’ve taken to get here. There will be times where I can’t rely on realism— that day will come— but right now, I need to stay real and stay authentic.”

During the heated promo segment between Will Ospreay and Hangman Page, both of them threw bombs at each other as they both explained why both of them feel they should win the finals of the Owen Hart Cup tournament at AEW Double or Nothing, which will take place on May 25th.

Will Ospreay’s unscripted promo brought real emotion and intensity, making the lead-up to Double or Nothing even more exciting. In a time when most wrestling shows feel scripted, his honest and real approach shows why he’s one of the most exciting stars in AEW right now and so we’ll have to see if he will be able to win at AEW Double or Nothing.
