Will Ospreay’s in-ring skills are simply undeniable, and he prides himself on being one of the best professional wrestlers in the world. In fact, he has claimed that he could outwrestle most of the WWE roster even on his worst day.
While speaking to Daily Star, Will Ospreay said he doesn’t enjoy WWE, either as a fan or a wrestler. He hasn’t watched WrestleMania 41 but heard it wasn’t great, aside from the match involving Iyo Sky, Rhea Ripley, and Bianca Belair, who he considers some of the best in the world.
Ospreay explained that he was never really a fan of WWE. While he respects the company and the wrestlers who handle its demanding schedule, he just doesn’t like the show’s style, presentation, or overall feel though he admits some improvements have been made, like the one-shot camera work.
“I still, as not only a viewer but also a wrestler, just don’t enjoy it. I haven’t watched WrestleMania, but from what I’ve heard, it wasn’t the best one—maybe Iyo, Rhea, and Bianca had the only really sick match. Those three are incredible, three of the best, period.
But for me, I was never a WWE guy. I respect it, and I respect the people doing it—the schedule is insane, and I commend them for it. I just don’t like the show. I don’t like the style of wrestling or the presentation. It has gotten better—I love the one-shots they’ve been doing—but I’ve never been a big fan.”
Ospreay added that he respects and admires everyone in WWE, but he’s always felt a bit of a rivalry. Even though WWE has the biggest crowds and deals, he believes AEW wrestlers are better once the bell rings. He said that even on his worst day, he feels he can outwrestle most of the WWE talent.
The Aerial Assassin stated that WWE has strong promo talents like CM Punk and Roman Reigns, and admitted there are things he still needs to catch up on. However, he definitely believes AEW’s in-ring talent is unmatched by WWE’s roster.
“Of course I respect WWE and admire everyone there, but for me, there’s always been this little bit of rivalry where I’m like, ‘Yeah, you’re the biggest. You draw the biggest crowds. You’ve got the biggest deals.’ But the moment the bell rings, I think we’re better than all of them. Honestly, on my worst day, I think I’m better than a lot of their guys—in-ring and on the mic.
Promo-wise, they’ve got some greats. Punk’s great. Reigns is great. There are still things I need to catch up on. But in-ring? I don’t think anyone on that side matches up to our guys.”
Will Ospreay is one of the most exciting and popular wrestlers today for a ton of reasons and he just feels AEW’s in-ring product is better than WWE and fans will simply have to respect his opinion in the end.
