Paul “Triple H” Levesque stirred up a storm in 2024 when he claimed some wrestlers didn’t want the “grind” of being in WWE. He never named names, but Will Ospreay is convinced the shot was aimed directly at him.
Speaking on the Insight podcast, Ospreay revealed he had inside sources confirming that Levesque was talking about him. “He was [talking about me]. I’ve got people that I won’t throw under the bus, saying, ‘Yeah, it was about me.’”
Despite the indirect dig, Ospreay isn’t holding a grudge. He made it clear that he doesn’t have any personal issues with Levesque—mostly because they’ve never even met. “I don’t hate the guy. I’ve never met him. How can I hate someone that I’ve never even met?”
But while Ospreay might not be bothered now, he definitely had something to say back then. In 2024, during an episode of Dynamite, he fired off a brutal clapback, claiming Triple H only got to the top by ‘grinding’ on Stephanie McMahon. The comment sparked immediate backlash, with fans calling it disrespectful and questioning why Ospreay went that far.
Eventually, he admitted he took it too far, later saying he was done “lowering” himself to wrestling’s tribalism.
There’s still no concrete proof that Triple H’s comments were directly aimed at Ospreay, but according to sources within AEW, the belief in WWE is that it absolutely was.
With both men thriving in their respective careers—Ospreay as a top star in AEW and Triple H running WWE—it’s clear that no matter what was said, both of them know how to grind for success.
