Will Ospreay is back in the ring after neck surgery, but he admits the fear of getting hurt again hasn’t gone away.

While speaking on the YoJoshMartinez podcast, Ospreay was asked what scares him more at this stage of his career — suffering another major injury or not reaching his full potential. His response made it clear that both concerns are constantly battling in his mind as he moves forward.

Ospreay explained that his mindset has changed since the surgery, especially when it comes to thinking about the risks involved with his wrestling style. He acknowledged that criticism has followed him for years because of how aggressively he wrestles, but he believes his track record speaks for itself.

“Oh, I mean there will always be like a constant battle with one another. Like, I mean, I worry about getting hurt all the time now. Like, it's taken this and like I mean the one thing I will say is a lot of people will give me a lot of [expletive] for just doing this style and people are like, well are you not surprised that you had neck surgery?”

Ospreay went on to defend his approach in the ring, pointing out that he had been wrestling the same style for more than a decade before the injury finally happened. He made it clear that confidence in his ability is what allows him to keep moving forward despite the risks.

“Well, like the way that I kind of see it is I've been doing this style now for 14 years and it's just happened now. I'm like more than confident in my abilities and I know what I can and can't do.”

He also admitted that pressure plays a major role in his return, especially with fans expecting him to perform at the same elite level he showed before the injury. For Ospreay, it’s not enough to talk about being ready — he knows he has to prove it once he steps into the spotlight again.

“So there's that added element to it, but obviously there's always going to be pressure, especially from what I was able to leave behind before I got hurt. And I feel like people want that. And obviously with expectations later on down in the year of what people want from me in a main event capacity, like I got to still be able to put myself in those positions and I got to back it up. I can't just talk it. I have to walk it.”

Ospreay’s honesty shows just how much pressure comes with returning from a serious injury, especially for someone known for pushing the limits inside the ring. Even with confidence in his abilities, the fear of another setback remains part of the reality he now faces every time he prepares to compete.
