Will Ospreay and Kyle Fletcher took each other to the absolute limit with their brutal steel cage match at the AEW Revolution pay-per-view, which saw Ospreay win. WWE followed it up with a steel cage match between CM Punk and Seth Rollins on Raw the next night, and now Will Ospreay has accused Punk of trying to top his match.

While speaking on the Battleground podcast, Will Ospreay was asked where he would place his and Kyle Fletcher’s steel cage match at AEW Revolution on the list of the best cage matches ever.

Ospreay said he had thought about it recently and couldn’t think of another cage match that had the same level of big moments, story, and emotion. Ospreay also accused CM Punk and Seth Rollins of trying to outdo their match the next day on Raw at Madison Square Garden, but they couldn’t. He was blown away by the reaction from fans and how many people said it was one of the best steel cage matches of all time.

“Mate, I was actually thinking about this a little while ago — I can’t think of another cage match off the top of my head that pulled off the stunts, the storytelling, the drama, as well as that one did.

I mean, people tried to top it the very next day, and they couldn’t. I just couldn’t believe the output, the support we got afterwards, and how many genuinely thought it was one of the greatest steel cage matches ever.”

The steel cage match between CM Punk and Seth Rollins during the March 10th edition of Monday Night Raw at Madison Square Garden also featured Roman Reigns making his shocking return to take out both Punk and Rollins at the end.

Fans online were loving the Ospreay vs. Fletcher match, calling it one of the best steel cage matches ever, while the WWE cage match didn’t get the same praise. Some fans liked it and thought it was a solid match for TV, but others felt it didn’t have the same emotion or creativity as the AEW one.

Will Ospreay is never afraid to speak his mind, and he proved himself with a strong performance at AEW Revolution. It’s not clear if CM Punk and Seth Rollins were trying to outdo him, but one thing is clear: Ospreay and Fletcher put on an amazing match that got everyone talking, and that’s all that matters to Ospreay.
