Roman Reigns missed Hulk Hogan’s tribute for a reason.

Two weeks ago, WWE paid tribute to Hulk Hogan with a 10-bell salute before RAW and SmackDown. The segment featured much of the roster on stage honoring the late wrestling icon, but fans quickly noticed that Roman Reigns was not among them.

According to Billi Bhaitti on Dirty Sheets’ Wrestling Informer podcast, there is no animosity between the two. In fact, Reigns and Hogan are familiar with one another from their shared connections in the Tampa area. Instead, the decision for Reigns to skip the tribute was made for creative reasons.

“There is no problem with Roman Reigns and Hulk Hogan. They are two people that know each other from the Tampa area. But Roman Reigns was not standing out there for Hulk Hogan on Raw because it was actually Triple H who felt that it wouldn’t suit Roman Reigns’ character for him to be out there. I think that’s completely the wrong thing to do — I don’t think what your character is matters or anything like that when it comes to standing there for a 10-bell salute. But it was agreed upon by all parties that Roman Reigns’ character wouldn’t be out there to acknowledge Hogan’s death.”

Triple H reportedly felt that appearing in the segment would not fit Reigns’ current on-screen persona. However, Bhaitti disagreed with that reasoning, as he argued that honoring a wrestling legend should take priority over character presentation. That being said, there is nothing fans can do to change things at this point.

We will have to see what WWE does in the future to celebrate Hulk Hogan’s legacy. He was called immortal for a reason, because although his human body may have passed away, Hulkamania is still running wild with many fans.
