Why The New Day vs The Uso’s Should Main Event Hell in a Cell

If McMahon defeats Owens, by hook or by crook it ultimately rules out that match being a main event match. For one, the main event of a PPV which lends itself to matches which prevent shenanigans ending with shenanigans simply is not right and will only serve to leave a sour taste in the mouths of fans. Secondly, Shane McMahon simply cannot beat Kevin Owens. If he does it will do nothing for Shane or the McMahon image, but will ultimately hurt Owens. While Owens McMahon would be ruined by one result and needs another before the story ultimately continues in some form, the tag team championship match could go either way and there is no wrong result.

That is one of the more intriguing factors of this tag title match, the result is not predictable. The championships have been hot potatoed a little in this feud however that is not necessarily a bad thing. Predictability is not always a bad thing, unpredictability is not always a good thing but in regards to this match it will only serve to increase anticipation that, even if we go in with a prediction,  we will not whole heartedly know who will walk out Tag Team Champions because WWE could continue to throw us off and switch the belts, while that does not always work and does not always come off as natural or does not work well into the confides of the story or rivalry, in this feud it absolutely does. That uncertainty belongs in a main event championship match.

As do these teams, the work that both have put in during their tenures is unbelievable. In 2017 alone the Uso’s have become one of the best acts in the company WWE following a much needed heel turn in late 2016. Their charisma and ability on the mic is shining through along with their unquestionable talent in the ring. Then there is the New Day who have never not been entertaining and over as hell. At least since they ditched their original gimmick. These are two money teams in WWE who belong in main events. If two teams in current day WWE deserve to main event a PPV for the titles it is these two teams.

That leads to another reason why these two teams should main event, there has never been a Tag Team Championship Hell in a Cell match. There have been 2 tag team Cell matches and one – between DX and Legacy – has even been a main event. Why not give history the main event spot like it got at last years event? Tag Team Wrestling in WWE over the past year has been up and down creatively. But as of this writing these two teams are doing work which constitutes a main event match-up. Fans watching will understand that history unfolding before there eyes and as fans we always are suckers for that feeling. Seeing history made by two teams as universally loved and appreciated as these two will only amplify that feeling.
