WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross has never been one to sugarcoat his experiences—and in an interview with Inside The Ropes, he revisited one of the most turbulent years of his career: 1994, the year WWE fired him not once, but twice.

So why did JR come back—twice—after being let go? For Ross, the answer is simple. Wrestling wasn’t just a job. It was all he knew.

“I love the wrestling business,” Ross said, when asked what drove him to return despite the humiliating exits. “And I was willing to eat the sh*t and put my hat in my hand and try to get back to work.”

At the time, WWE was still the gold standard for commentators and creative talent. For someone like JR, who had dedicated his life to the business, there was nowhere else that felt like home.

“It was a place to work. It was the place to work in what I did for a living,” he explained. “You know, I got a lot of work, and good things were happening. But that’s all I knew — just my love for the business, I guess. And maybe I was scared that I couldn’t do anything else.”

After decades of legendary calls, emotional moments, and being the voice of wrestling’s biggest eras, Jim Ross still keeps it real. His return to WWE wasn’t about ego—it was about heart, loyalty and fear of losing the only world he ever truly belonged to.

What do you think about JR’s decision to keep going back? Was it loyalty, survival, or both? Drop your thoughts in the comments below.
