The showdown between Jey Uso and Logan Paul is happening — just not at WWE Backlash.
According to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the match is now slated for Saturday Night’s Main Event on May 24 at the Yuengling Center in Tampa, Florida.
Meltzer reported that the decision to move the bout was strategic, as WWE wanted to reserve the big-money match for the NBC special. “One would expect” the Uso vs. Paul clash to be one of the top matches of the night, especially with the event already positioned to be a sellout.
According to Meltzer, the show is a “lock to sell out” with its $83 ticket price and a setup of 9,762 seats. As of now, 9,224 tickets have been distributed, driven largely by the advertised appearance of WWE Undisputed Champion John Cena.
Cena’s status remains a question mark, though. The 16-time world champion is scheduled to defend his title against Randy Orton at WWE Backlash on May 10, and while Meltzer hinted that Cena “could” wrestle at Saturday Night’s Main Event, there’s no confirmation yet.
Meanwhile, Logan Paul’s sneak attack on Jey Uso after WWE Raw was reportedly done to keep the feud hot on social media ahead of their May 24 clash. With the NBC special shaping up to be a stacked card, WWE is clearly banking on Uso vs. Paul to deliver major buzz.
