HOOK was originally scheduled to compete at AEW Revolution 2026, but fans quickly noticed he was missing when the Blackjack Battle Royal for the AEW National Championship took place.
HOOK had been announced for the 21-man match just one night earlier during Saturday’s episode of AEW Collision. However, when the battle royal kicked off on the Zero Hour pre-show, the former AEW Trios Champion was nowhere to be seen.
According to Bryan Alvarez of F4WOnline.com, HOOK was removed from the match shortly before the event because he was not medically cleared to compete. Alvarez explained that the issue does not appear to be serious. While the exact nature of the medical issue has not been revealed, the expectation is that the situation is minor and will not keep him out long-term.
HOOK has not wrestled regularly in recent weeks. His most recent AEW match took place on January 7 during a Lights Out tag team match. He did compete in an independent wrestling appearance in late January, but his in-ring schedule has been relatively light since then.
As for the match itself, Jack Perry ultimately won the Blackjack Battle Royal, capturing the AEW National Championship during the Zero Hour pre-show at Revolution.
Do you think AEW made the right call pulling HOOK from the match to avoid risking a bigger injury, or were you disappointed he missed the battle royal? Let us know your thoughts and join the conversation in the comments.
