Any hope for a third season of Heels may have just taken a major hit as Stephen Amell revealed why season 3 will never happen.

While speaking on Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaum, Stephen Amell addressed the ongoing speculation about the wrestling drama potentially returning. According to Amell, despite occasional rumors and discussions, a third season of the show simply isn’t happening. Amell compared the situation to other rumors he hears about his previous projects, explaining that people often assume a revival is coming even when there’s no real plan behind it.

“There was talk, but there’s talk about everything. People come back to me and say, ‘I hear Arrow season 9 is coming back.’ It’s not. I don’t know where you heard that, but it’s not happening. I would be the first to know.”

He then made it clear that the situation surrounding Heels is similar — and that despite the show occasionally being mentioned as a possible Netflix pickup, the reality behind the scenes is far more complicated.

“And with Heels, okay, yeah, it might end up on Netflix, but even if it blew up, who even owns it? It’s one of those things — it’s just never happening.”

Amell also explained that many factors outside an actor’s control determine whether a series survives or continues. From network priorities to timing and industry luck, he said the fate of a show rarely comes down to just popularity alone.

“There’s so much that’s out of your control. It’s all out of your control. It’s timing. Are you on the right network? Is that network in a good spot? Is your show something they’re prioritizing?”

He continued by noting that success in television often depends on unpredictable elements that can change the direction of a show entirely. Amell added that even creative elements — such as casting decisions, guest stars, or directors bringing new perspectives — can play a role in shaping whether a series thrives or fades away.

“Do you catch a lot of lucky breaks? Do you catch lightning in a bottle multiple times? You never know. When you cast people, you might do a chemistry read, but you don’t really know if those people are going to get along, if they’ll have real chemistry, or if they’ll make those relationships more three-dimensional over time as a friendship grows.”

The comments come after previous hopes that Heels might find new life. Following its cancellation by Starz in 2023 after two seasons, fans and even CM Punk had expressed interest in seeing the series revived on Netflix. But based on Amell’s latest remarks, it sounds like the door on season three may be firmly closed.
