Cody Rhodes has used Kingdom by Downstait as his entrance theme for nearly a decade, from his time on the independent scene to AEW and now WWE. The song was even a key part of his WWE return, but now Rhodes has revealed he wants to make a major change to the song.
At the start of the song, Rhodes’ voice can be heard saying, “Wrestling has more than one royal family,” a line originally meant as a jab at the McMahon family. While speaking in a preview clip for Stephanie’s Places, Rhodes revealed that he recorded that line shortly after leaving WWE in 2016 and that it has remained in the song ever since, saying, “I recorded that within weeks after I left WWE. And to this day we still use that audio sample.”
However, Cody Rhodes now hopes to update the introduction by having his daughter record the line instead. He stated that he wants her to be part of the experience and hopes she will be willing to do it in the future.
“My goal actually is, I don’t know if she’d wanna do this. But the beginning of my song, the little voice over that exists. I’d love my daughter to do it. I want her to have a good experience in this.“
As Cody Rhodes moves ahead in his career, he wants his entrance music to change with him. He hopes to add his daughter’s voice to the song as a way to honor his family’s importance in wrestling. This would be a special way to show that the Rhodes family’s influence will continue for years to come.
Whether Cody Rhodes changes his entrance theme or not, his main goal is to make his family proud at WrestleMania 41. He will face John Cena in a huge match where his Undisputed WWE Championship will be on the line. Therefore, we’ll have to see if Rhodes will manage to beat Cena in the end.
