Cody Rhodes finally confirmed what fans have been speculating for months—yes, Travis Scott really did bust his eardrum during their WWE Elimination Chamber segment. And no, he never gave the rapper a receipt for it.
While on Hot Ones, Rhodes addressed the incident directly, explaining why he didn’t retaliate even though the shot left real damage. The American Nightmare said he wished someone else was to blame, considering The Rock and John Cena were also in the ring—but Travis was the one who connected with that unintentional shot.
“I wish I could tell you it wasn’t true, because I wanted someone else to get the credit for that. So you’ve got Rock in the ring, and you’ve got Cena in the ring. But my man Travis — nothing but love for him — he’s got a big old hand. So yes, it did bust my eardrum.”
As for why Cody didn’t respond with a receipt—something traditional in wrestling when someone goes too stiff—he chalked it up to hospitality and respect for what Travis brought to the show. In today’s WWE, celebrities are more involved than ever, and Cody sees the value in treating them as guests.
“If anyone ever wonders why I didn’t slap him… he’s gracing us with his presence. In wrestling right now, we’re getting all these fun folks, but years ago it wasn’t that easy.”
Cody went on to joke that Travis is welcome back anytime—just maybe with a little less power behind his strikes.
“I’m not saying I want you to come back, man — yeah, right. Hospitality. Our house. Our house is your house. You know, maybe swing a little less, but our house is your house. So yeah, Travis did do that. That’s a fact.”
Some still criticize Travis Scott for not taking a receipt, but Rhodes clearly isn’t sweating it. He took the shot, moved on, and welcomed the chaos that comes with modern WWE crossovers.
