Brock Lesnar’s shocking WWE return at SummerSlam and his destruction of John Cena at WrestlePalooza has sparked plenty of debate. Some fans believe bringing back a part-time legend like Lesnar shows WWE is low on credible stars. But according to Eric Bischoff, that couldn’t be further from the truth.

Speaking to the Toronto Sun, the former WCW boss shut down the idea that Lesnar’s comeback is a sign of weakness in WWE’s roster. Instead, he framed it as a smart play rooted in wrestling history.

“Attractions have always been a big part of professional wrestling — going back to Andre the Giant and many others through the decades,” Bischoff said, agreeing that Lesnar, much like The Undertaker, fits the bill as an “attraction.”

Bischoff argued that in today’s oversaturated TV landscape, having someone like Lesnar show up occasionally helps the product stand out. With more wrestlers appearing weekly than ever before, it’s hard for any single name to feel special. That’s where a returning powerhouse like Lesnar creates a much-needed spark.

“The concept of an attraction, someone fans don’t see every week, has worked for 20, 30, even 40 years. In the past 15 or 20 years especially, with more television time and more stars on screen, it’s harder for one person to stand out. Having an attraction or legend who appears occasionally helps balance the product and keeps different parts of the audience engaged.”

For Bischoff, Lesnar’s return isn’t about WWE being out of ideas or running out of talent. It’s about understanding when and how to deliver big moments.

“That’s not a sign of desperation. Bringing Brock back wasn’t panic; it was smart business. He’s still motivated, still a major draw, and still sells tickets. But if he appeared every week, he wouldn’t feel special anymore — that’s the nature of an attraction.”

And if you think WWE is scrambling for stars, Bischoff strongly disagrees. He believes there are plenty of top-tier talents already in place—many of whom are just one strong storyline away from exploding into the main event picture.

“When you look at WWE’s current roster, there are several people who could rise to the top within six months with the right creative direction and teamwork. The real challenge for WWE isn’t finding stars — it’s keeping the talent balanced and in their lanes so there are always strong options ready to step up. That’s a great place for the company to be right now.”

Lesnar hasn’t been seen since WrestlePalooza, but reports indicate he’s already internally listed for the 2026 Royal Rumble in Saudi Arabia and WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas. WWE clearly isn’t throwing him into the mix out of desperation—they’re playing the long game.

Do you agree with Eric Bischoff’s take on Brock Lesnar being used as a special attraction? Or do you think WWE should focus more on full-time talent? Drop your thoughts in the comments.
