The whispers about Britt Baker jumping ship to WWE have been getting louder, especially with her absence from AEW television. But now we finally know where things actually stand—and if you’re expecting her to show up in a WWE ring anytime soon, don’t hold your breath.
During the Debunkathon segment of Fightful Select’s Backstage Report, Sean Ross Sapp directly addressed the swirling rumors that WWE and Britt Baker have been talking behind the scenes. He made it absolutely clear those stories are complete fiction.
“There are fraud, catfish accounts saying that WWE and Britt Baker had talks. They didn’t.”
That puts a hard stop on any fantasy booking for now. According to Sapp, there have been zero discussions between WWE and Baker—at least as of now. So while it’s not impossible down the road, fans hoping for a surprise debut or contract jump will have to keep waiting.
This clears up speculation that caught fire after reports of Britt Baker removed AEW from her social media profile. That move had fans thinking she was distancing herself from the company—especially after she didn’t appear during AEW’s stop in her hometown of Pittsburgh.
Dave Meltzer weighed in on that as well in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter and didn’t sugarcoat what it might mean.
“Baker has removed AEW from her social media profile. When she wasn’t at the Pittsburgh show I took that as she’s not going to be used again. Whether it was they thought she was headed to WWE (she’d get a huge pop at first but in other ways it may be difficult long-term because of the style difference).”
It’s also been confirmed that Baker is still under contract with AEW—potentially through 2027 depending on how her injury time is counted. As noted previously, Baker is ready to return, but AEW just hasn’t used her.
So what’s the real story? She’s still part of AEW, WWE hasn’t made a move, and any drama you’ve heard about her jumping companies is internet fiction—at least for now. With no return date in sight and no WWE talks happening, it seems Britt Baker’s next move is just as much a mystery to fans as it is to anyone else watching closely.
