What’s Being Said About Brock Lesnar’s WrestleMania Status

The staredown between Oba Femi and Brock Lesnar at the 2026 Royal Rumble had fans thinking a WrestleMania 42 match was inevitable. But behind the scenes, that bout is still far from confirmed.

In the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that while WWE clearly teased the Lesnar-Femi clash during the Rumble, the company has not finalized plans for the match. He also revealed that Lesnar had been internally listed against a different opponent just weeks earlier.

“There was a tease at the Royal Rumble of Oba Femi and after the Rumble we were only told that it was not a sure thing yet. We do know that in the lineup in late January for the show, that Lesnar was listed as facing LA Knight. But in the Rumble, nothing memorable was done in that direction while the Lesnar-Femi face-off was set up to get a big reaction and actually got the biggest reaction of the show except for Brie Bella.”

The Royal Rumble moment between Lesnar and Femi was positioned as a major highlight. Femi entered at number one and lasted 39 minutes before Lesnar eliminated him with a German suplex. Their face-off drew one of the biggest reactions of the night, instantly fueling WrestleMania speculation.

However, the note about Lesnar being internally listed to face LA Knight in late January suggests WWE is still weighing its options. With nothing officially announced, Lesnar’s WrestleMania direction remains fluid.

WrestleMania 42 takes place April 18 and 19 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. Roman Reigns has already chosen CM Punk for the World Heavyweight Championship match, but Lesnar’s opponent is still up in the air.
