Cody Rhodes wasn’t about to let Jey Uso leave WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event with his head down.
After the show went off the air, Rhodes hit the ring to console his friend, who had just fallen short in his World Heavyweight Championship match against Gunther. The “Yeet Man” put up a fight, but two back-to-back Powerbombs sealed the deal for the Ring General, leaving Uso without the title once again.
With the cameras off and Gunther already backstage, Rhodes grabbed the mic and made it clear that Jey’s moment will come.
“Michael Cole just said it, you guys all know it, you just watched that match. He said Jey Uso’s time will come. I know it doesn’t feel good Jey, I’ve been there. But you’re a champion to me, you’re a champion to everybody here, let’s hear it for my friend Jey Uso.”
The two shared a heartfelt embrace before Rhodes turned his attention to Gabriel “Fluffy” Iglesias, who was sitting in the crowd. Rhodes invited the comedian into the ring, and the three of them played to the audience to send the crowd home happy.
Earlier in the night, Rhodes handled his own business by signing the contract for his WWE Championship Ladder Match against Kevin Owens at the Royal Rumble. The segment ended in chaos when moderator Shawn Michaels decided to get involved, dropping a Sweet Chin Music before things wrapped up.
With Rhodes building momentum toward his huge Royal Rumble showdown and Jey Uso proving he’s still in the title hunt, WWE’s road to WrestleMania is heating up.
