Violent J is getting real about one of the hardest decisions he’s made in Juggalo Championship Wrestling — giving someone else control.
While discussing Vince Russo’s arrival in JCW during a recent appearance on the Crazy Train podcast with Jasmin St. Claire, the Insane Clown Posse frontman admitted that handing over creative power wasn’t easy.
Despite praising Russo as a “genius,” Violent J confessed there was serious hesitation behind the scenes before Russo officially took over writing duties.
“I know I was scared to death of letting somebody else write the show, and I know he was scared to death about taking another job doing that. So we were both nervous.”
For years, JCW had been Violent J’s vision — from the wild, Juggalo-focused storylines to the tone of commentary. Giving up that control meant trusting someone else with something deeply personal. He explained that before Russo officially came in, there were disagreements and uncertainty leading up to their first show together. But once they worked side by side, the dynamic changed.
Now, their relationship is collaborative rather than competitive. If something feels too complicated, Violent J speaks up.
“When he writes something I don’t understand, I’m the first one to be like, ‘I don’t understand this.’ And if he has to explain it to me, my thinking is other people aren’t going to understand it either if I didn’t understand it. So it needs to be more understandable. We’ll figure it out together.”
Violent J made it clear that wrestling — specifically JCW — is now one of the biggest passions in his life outside of his children.
“Wrestling, aside from my kids, is the most exciting thing going on in my life right now. I got all my passion in JCW.”
Letting someone else help steer that ship was a risk. But for Violent J, growth meant stepping outside his comfort zone.
Was he right to take that leap of faith with Vince Russo, or should JCW have stayed fully under his control? Sound off in the comments and let’s talk about it.
