Vince Russo’s The Brand Recap – SummerSlam Analysis, Premature Title Changes, Heyman’s Cartoonish Antics, More!

Russo says he’s not a fan of Finn Balor but he always appreciated The Demon character. Unfortunately, after seeing the Demon make his entrance at SummerSlam, Russo realized that it just looks like Balor with face paint and the character lost a lot of it’s lustre for him. Vito agrees and says Balor reminded him of an indie worker with face paint on. This was an indie match that didn’t belong in WWE in Vito’s opinion.

Vito thought that Sheamus/Cesaro and Rollins/Ambrose had one of the best tag team matches he’s seen in a while. Russo says that he loved Cesaro running into the crowd and destroying the beach ball but he suspects that it may have been set up. He points out that Cesaro and Sheamus are both foreigners and the beach ball was red, white and blue.

Russo says that he napped during the A.J. Styles/Kevin Owens match because he felt like he had already seen this match several times before, due to the lack of roster depth created by the brand split. Vito gives this match an ‘A’ grade because all three men worked very hard and played off of each other perfectly. He also says that Shane McMahon is one of the most naturally gifted athletes in WWE today.

Vito says that the finish to the WWE Championship match did not surprise him at all. He knew that WWE would only flip the Title from Mahal to Nakamura if they were shifting their promotional focus from India to Japan. That’s not the case right now, so the Title predictably remains around the waist of Mahal. Vito goes on to say that Nakamura doesn’t have main event, World Championship potential in his view.
