Vince Russo is threatening to sue a Twitter user for spreading a fake quote about Women’s World Champion Stephanie Vaquer — and he’s naming names.

The former WWE head writer took to Twitter and called out a user named @maddiemania_ for posting a quote that claimed Russo said Stephanie Vaquer shouldn’t be champion because she “can’t speak American.” Russo says he never said it — and now he’s warning that if the tweet isn’t taken down, lawyers are getting involved.

“Someone has posted an absolute fake tweet ‘quoting’ something I never said about @Steph_Vaquer,” Russo tweeted. “This is being spread by @maddiemania_ falsely and maliciously. If it is not taken down immediately, Maddie’s next discussion will be with my lawyers.

At some point you will understand that you can’t believe everything you read on social media.”

The post that set Russo off featured the made-up quote and a reaction from @maddiemania_, who added: “If she can’t speak WHAT?!” The tweet led to outrage and confusion before Russo stepped in to shut it down.

There is no evidence Russo ever made the comment, and no recording or original source backing the quote — just a graphic designed to go viral.

While Russo has a long history of controversial takes and rants, this time he’s not playing into it. He’s treating it as defamation and making it clear he’s willing to take it to court if needed.

In the era of viral posts and screenshots, fake quotes can do real damage to someone’s reputation— and Russo seems determined to make an example out of this one.
