Vince Russo is once again pulling no punches when it comes to WWE’s current creative direction — and this time, his criticism is aimed squarely at Triple H.

During a recent appearance on Minus7 Sports, Russo was asked about the potential role of artificial intelligence in pro wrestling creative. What started as a discussion about technology quickly turned into a blunt assessment of WWE’s creative leadership under Triple H, with Russo arguing that success in the ring does not automatically translate to success behind the scenes.

Russo first made it clear that his criticism had nothing to do with Triple H’s legendary in-ring career, stressing that wrestling ability and creative vision are two very different skill sets.

“Bro, I swear to you—and I am not lying to you—Triple H is horrible creatively. And bro, I am not saying that as a knock because bro, we all can’t be good at everything, honestly. Like, we’ve got our strengths and we’ve got our weaknesses. And okay, bro, Triple H was an 18-time world champion. Great freaking wrestler. I worked with the dude. That doesn’t make him a great creative mind and that doesn’t make him a great writer. He’s horrible, bro.”

Russo then doubled down by pointing to what he sees as the biggest issue with WWE television today: a lack of structure, depth, and personality.

“When I say horrible, there are no storylines in the WWE. There are no characters in the WWE. Because the guy who’s head of creative is not creative.”

That criticism set the stage for Russo to explain why he believes WWE could benefit from outside help — even something as unconventional as artificial intelligence. Russo revealed that he recently experimented with ChatGPT out of curiosity after hearing about it from EC3, and was stunned by what it produced.

“So bro, I swear to you, if I were Triple H, I would be using AI right now. I mean, without a shadow of a doubt, bro. Listen, I was just fooling around with ChatGPT because EC3 was telling me about it, right? So bro, I just said to it, ‘Give me a Vince Russo-style wrestling TV show script,’ and bro, it spit out a format and I was like, holy crap. Like, bro, I would have thought I had written it. It was unbelievable.”

While Russo admitted he was impressed by the technology, he was careful to draw a line between curiosity and personal use. He explained that despite how effective AI can be, he would never rely on it creatively — though he believes Triple H should consider it.

“Now bro, I could tell you, I swear I’m working with JCW, I will never use AI because I think that’s kind of cheating. I want my ideas to be original. But man, if I were Triple H? I would be instituting that immediately.”

Russo’s comments add fuel to the ongoing debate surrounding WWE’s creative direction under the TKO umbrella, especially as viewership, fan engagement, and long-term storytelling continue to be hot topics among wrestling fans.

Whether fans agree with Russo’s assessment or not, his remarks once again raise uncomfortable questions about who should be steering WWE’s creative vision — and how much change, if any, is still needed.
