Former WWE head writer and current JCW creative lead Vince Russo took to Twitter on February 2, 2026, to share a powerful and emotional update on his 95-year-old father’s terrifying health scare—a night that almost ended in tragedy. Russo opened up about the events that unfolded just 24 hours earlier, writing:

\My father was rushed to the hospital having trouble breathing yesterday. His lungs were filled with fluid. The doctors thought it was heart failure. Then he tested positive for the flu. Then I was told at 10pm last night that he was having a heart attack.”

“I just waited for that phone to ring one last time to get the inevitable news. No way was his heart going to be able to endure all that. Not after 95 years.”

Russo said he stayed up all night planning his trip to Florida and bracing for “the call.” But to his relief, that call never came.

“THANK GOD the call never came.”

Doctors discovered one of his father’s arteries was 85% blocked. A stent was inserted, and excess fluid was cleared from his lungs. He’s now recovering comfortably—and even cracking jokes. Russo credited prayer and faith for the outcome:

“About an hour ago I finally got to talk to him. He was laughing because he knew I would ask him if the ‘7th STINT WAS FREE because he had already bought 6.’”

“Power of prayer. The things that matter. Thank you so much for every prayer—means more to me than you will ever know. I will keep you updated.”

It’s a rare moment of vulnerability from the outspoken wrestling figure, reminding fans that behind the on-screen drama and hot takes is a son who was just praying for one more conversation with his dad.
