The Super Bowl always brings out unexpected moments, but former WWE writer Vince Russo might have just delivered the coldest take of the night.
Russo, known for his controversial opinions, took to Twitter and wrote, “Bro—I think I’d rather have seen Lamar Odom perform during halftime.”
It didn’t take long for fans to point out just how out of touch that was. Kendrick Lamar, one of the most celebrated hip-hop artists of this generation, is actually scheduled for the halftime show. Comparing a Grammy-winning rap icon to a former NBA player with no musical background left many people wondering if Russo even knew what he was talking about.
This isn’t the first time Russo has made questionable comments about pop culture, and it probably won’t be the last. His tweet quickly became the subject of ridicule, with fans calling him out for having no clue about today’s music scene.
Meanwhile, AEW boss Tony Khan was busy enjoying the Super Bowl in a different way. He posted a photo alongside Workaholics and Pitch Perfect star Adam Devine, referencing his wrestling parody series Front Yard Wrestling. Khan captioned the shot, “All Elite Wrestling @AEW meets Front Yard Wrestling’s Catam @ADAMDEVINE.”
The crossover moments didn’t stop there. Swerve Strickland and Ricochet took their wrestling rivalry into football territory, going back and forth over their favorite teams, while Mandy Rose turned heads by repping the Philadelphia Eagles, even as she held a game ball from her husband, Sabatino Piscitelli, who has ties to the Kansas City Chiefs.
With Russo once again putting himself in the hot seat, it’s clear that some opinions are better left unsaid.
What do you think about Vince Russo’s take? Should he just sit this one out when it comes to music and sports? Please share your thoughts and feedback in the comment section below.
