Vince McMahon Originally Planned Embarrassing Gimmick for Brock Lesnar

Brock Lesnar has always been booked as a dominant force of nature ever since he debuted in WWE back in the 2000s. However, it appears Vince McMahon planned an embarrassing gimmick for Brock Lesnar.

While speaking with Jonathan Coachman, former WWE star Matt Morgan talked about his wrestling career, his journey to sobriety, and his time in WWE and TNA. He remembered how Vince McMahon gave him the stuttering character in 2005. McMahon liked the idea of a big, strong wrestler having an unexpected weakness—stuttering. Morgan was surprised because he had studied public speaking in college.

“He goes, ‘Could you imagine? You, six feet, whatever you are, six ten, six eleven, you’ve all these physical, body perfections, and you have that Achilles’ heel to you that nobody sees coming. And you start to stutter.’ And I’m like, ‘With respect sir, I graduated top of my class in college with a public speaking degree. Are you sure?’”

Morgan also said that Vince McMahon originally wanted to give the gimmick to Brock Lesnar. McMahon wanted a powerful wrestler who looked tough but had a speech issue. If things had gone differently, Morgan stated that Lesnar could have been known as The Next Big Stutterer instead of The Beast Incarnate.

“Vince trying to sell the stuttering character, he actually wanted to put this on Brock Lesnar as God as my witness. He wanted to find somebody that’s jacked and has all these great physical attributes. That looks like a warrior as he put it. But that when they opened their mouth there was this verbal imperfection. Coach we could have had ‘The next Big Stutterer.’”

In the meantime, Brock Lesnar hasn’t appeared on WWE television since his match with Cody Rhodes at SummerSlam 2023 due to his alleged involvement in Vince McMahon’s trafficking lawsuit.

Dave Meltzer has mentioned that legal issues have stopped Brock Lesnar from coming back to WWE television. To add to that, even Paul Heyman isn’t very optimistic about Brock Lesnar making his WWE return anytime soon. Therefore, only time will tell if Brock Lesnar will return to WWE, as it might not happen for a long time.
