Michael Cole just revealed a major shift in WWE’s business strategy, and it’s something Vince McMahon would have never allowed.
During an appearance on Impaulsive, the veteran announcer admitted that the presence of corporate logos—like PRIME—on the WWE ring mat would have been unthinkable under McMahon’s leadership.
“Vince thought the mat was sacred,” Cole explained. “But it’s 2025 now, and the world has changed.”
Logan Paul, whose PRIME brand is now one of WWE’s biggest sponsors, was thrilled about the change. “For me, it’s fantastic. It’s the future,” he said, making it clear that he sees this as a game-changer for the company.
For decades, WWE kept its ring mat untouched, believing it should remain free of advertisements. But with McMahon out of the picture and a new leadership team led by Triple H and Nick Khan, WWE has embraced a different approach. Cole acknowledged just how much things have changed, saying, “We always used to say, ‘Oh, the mat has to be clean,’ but now? You’ve got multiple logos on there.”
Paul chimed in with his signature energy, pointing out how surreal it is to see advertisements becoming part of the action. “It’s gotta be the right brands. But let’s be real, you’re gonna get your head smashed in over a Wingstop logo? That’s amazing.”
Cole agreed that this level of sponsorship would have been “unheard of five, ten years ago,” but WWE has evolved into a multi-billion-dollar entertainment powerhouse. With PRIME becoming a prominent part of WWE’s branding, it’s clear the company is all-in on modern marketing strategies in ways McMahon never embraced.
