Vince McMahon didn’t just control WWE creative — according to Mr. Kennedy, he manipulated talent face-to-face inside his office.

Speaking on the Mic Check podcast on February 21, 2026, Kennedy broke down what it was like walking into a meeting with McMahon. He explained that many wrestlers would build themselves up beforehand, determined to stand their ground and fight for their creative ideas. The interviewer started by pointing out how common that mindset was among talent.

“I’ve heard several wrestlers say you can stand outside Vince McMahon’s office, go in there with one mindset — ‘It’s my way or the highway.’”

Kennedy said that was exactly how it felt before stepping into the room — you’d rehearse your points, prepare your argument, and convince yourself you weren’t backing down. But once the conversation started, everything changed.

“He f*****ing Jedi mind-tricks you every time. You’d be like, ‘I’m going to say this, this, and this.’ Alright, here we go. You go in and say, ‘Vince, listen, I think blah blah blah.’ Vince would say, ‘Well, you know, you don’t actually want it to be that way.’ Then you’d go, ‘Uh-huh.’”

Kennedy described how McMahon wouldn’t yell or immediately shut ideas down. Instead, he would calmly walk talent through his own logic, reframing their concerns until they started second-guessing themselves.

“He would describe and explain it in a way where you’d go, ‘Yeah, that makes sense. It makes sense why I should continue to do things the exact same way I’m doing them right now.’ Okay, cool.”

According to Kennedy, by the end of the meeting, talent genuinely believed they were on the same page. McMahon would even check in, making sure they felt satisfied before leaving. But the realization didn’t hit until they were already outside the office.

“Vince would be like, ‘You feel better?’ You’d say, ‘Yeah, I do.’ You shake his hand and walk out the door.” And as soon as you cross the threshold, you’re like, ‘F***! He did it again.’”

Love him or hate him, Kennedy’s story makes it sound like once talent stepped into Vince’s office, they were playing his game — and he usually won.
