Victoria Crawford, formerly known as Alicia Fox in WWE, wasn’t looking to get back in the ring when she first considered joining TNA Wrestling.

During a recent interview with Gabby LaSpisa on Gabby AF, Crawford opened up about her initial intentions with the company — and wrestling wasn’t part of the plan.

“I initially went to TNA thinking I could help the girls backstage, maybe produce or something like that,” Crawford said. “I ran into Tommy Dreamer, and I made a mention that I was interested in going to TNA, but you know, at first, I didn’t know, I didn’t consider as talent. My approach was kind of to like come help the girls, whether it’s produce.”

Crawford, who spent over 15 years in WWE, was more focused on contributing behind the scenes, much like her former colleagues Gail Kim and Mickie James. “I had seen some of our co-workers like Gail Kim and Mickie James come in and be able to be of aid,” she continued. “So, I was kind of really focused there.”

But that all changed when Crawford got a taste of the locker room environment. “The environment was so positive, and just being able to be amongst our industry people, and bring up stories and stuff, it made me kind of have that nostalgic promo,” she said. That nostalgia led to an unexpected opportunity to wrestle Britney Brooks, reigniting Crawford’s desire to get back in the ring.

Now, Crawford is set to challenge Masha Slamovich for the TNA Knockouts Championship at TNA Under Siege, a major step in her unexpected return to the squared circle.
