Bryan Danielson hasn’t wrestled in over a year, and fans continue to wonder if “The American Dragon” will ever step inside the ring again. Tony Khan just gave an update that offers both hope and reflection.

Speaking with Conrad Thompson, Khan praised Danielson’s contributions to AEW both in and out of the ring. He pointed to some of Danielson’s most memorable matches since joining the company, including his showdown with Kenny Omega at the first Grand Slam and his classic against Will Ospreay in St. Louis. He also recalled Danielson’s last match — his WrestleDream battle with Jon Moxley that ended with Danielson being stretchered out.

“Bryan Danielson is a big part of the AEW shows and a big part of the AEW team. Last year here in St. Louis, in this very arena, he wrestled an incredible match against Will Ospreay. He’s had so many amazing matches since joining AEW — from his great match in New York against Kenny Omega at the first Grand Slam to his final match against Jon Moxley exactly one year ago at WrestleDream, which ended with Bryan being stretchered out.”

Khan made it clear he hasn’t given up hope that Danielson could return.

“I still hope that someday Bryan might return to the ring. He’s never completely ruled it out. But I’m really proud that we can say Bryan’s personal favorite memory in his incredible wrestling career is his arrival in AEW.”

Danielson hasn’t been fully absent from AEW. He got physical at All In: Texas, attacking members of the Death Riders, and has become a fixture on the AEW Dynamite commentary team. Still, the possibility of a return match remains one of the biggest questions in wrestling.

Even if Danielson never wrestles again, his legacy as one of the greatest technical wrestlers ever is set in stone. The only question is whether fans will get one more chance to see him lace up the boots inside an AEW ring.
