Jelly Roll had a different original dance partner in WWE.
The Beast may have stolen the headlines at SummerSlam 2025, but The Undertaker quietly reshaped part of the show. This was especially true when it came to Jelly Roll.
Billi Bhaitti revealed on Dirty Sheets’ Wrestling Informer podcast that WWE originally planned a celebrity tag team match featuring The Miz and Logan Paul taking on R-Truth and Jelly Roll. The match was originally meant to continue the lighthearted rivalry between The Miz and Jelly Roll from the previous year’s SummerSlam, but that wasn’t the case.
“The original plan was exactly that — The Miz and Jelly Roll were going to continue the feud they began a year ago. Jelly Roll was supposed to get R-Truth as a partner, and The Miz was going to go and get Logan Paul as a partner. That was going to be your match at SummerSlam until The Undertaker got involved. The Undertaker has been heavily involved in Jelly Roll’s training… and in addition to that, Drew McIntyre has also been involved in Nashville training Jelly Roll. So it all made sense in the end if McIntyre is actually training Jelly Roll and Undertaker thinks he looks better than The Miz and is a better look for the WWE — especially if we’re going to go on late-night television. He pushed for McIntyre and Orton, and Triple H agreed, and Miz and Truth were left out in the cold.”
The Undertaker reportedly felt the match wouldn’t present WWE in the strongest light, especially if clips ended up on major platforms like late-night talk shows. He is correct, as it seems that The Undertaker was able to prove his social media savviness, which is ironic because there was once a time when fans thought he would never be on social media.
Fans saw Jelly Roll and Randy Orton lose to Logan Paul and Drew McIntyre at SummerSlam this year. Jelly Roll lost a ton of weight and got into the best shape of his life for that match, and odds are we haven’t seen the last of him.
Triple H confirmed that he and Jelly Roll are already talking about his next match. Of course, he will have to coordinate that hopeful in-ring return with his busy touring and music schedule. Other than that, it seems that all lights are green for Jelly Roll’s comeback to WWE. So, a match against The Miz may be in the cards at a later time.
We will keep a close eye on Jelly Roll and WWE. He had a great time living out a childhood dream, and the WWE Universe left the situation with that much more respect for the breakout music star.
