There is only one Undertaker in the history of pro wrestling, but people have always wondered if anyone could ever replicate his success and character. Unsurprisingly, Taker believes it could have been Bray Wyatt.
While speaking on Nightcap, The Undertaker was asked if anyone in wrestling today reminds him of himself. He said it is hard to name someone with a character like his. He sees many young talents with star potential, but few have a style similar to his own.
The closest in recent years, he explained, was Bray Wyatt. Before Wyatt’s passing, he stood out as someone who truly fit the Undertaker-like mold with a dark, unique presence.
The Undertaker added that while no one else has fully reached that level yet, plenty of promising talent is rising through the system and could debut soon as WWE continues to build new stars
“Um, it’s hard. I mean, I see a lot of people coming up who have the potential to be stars. Whether their characters are similar to mine or not—it’s tough to say.
I guess the closest within the past few years was obviously Bray Wyatt. Yeah, we lost him, but he was in that category of being Undertaker-esque. I don’t know that anybody else has really honed in there yet, but we have a lot of young talent coming up, and they’ll probably be debuting really soon because of the machine again.”
Bray Wyatt’s sudden passing at the tender age of 36 truly shocked the pro wrestling world, and that included the Undertaker. Before his passing, the Deadman always made it clear on numerous occasions that he was a massive fan of Bray Wyatt and always remained interested in whatever Wyatt did on WWE television.
Regardless, Bray Wyatt will always remain the one WWE Superstar who truly could have been the Deadman’s successor and that’s never going to change.
