After WWE merged with TKO Group Holdings back in 2023, several changes have reshaped the company, including a decrease in the number of house shows. In fact, The Undertaker has finally talked about his concerns over WWE’s reduced schedule.

While speaking on the Six Feet Under podcast, The Undertaker expressed concern about WWE’s reduced live event schedule. He believes wrestlers need more time in the ring to practice and improve, and house shows help with that.

The Phenom explained that live events were not only a major source of income but also a crucial way for wrestlers to improve and test new ideas. Unlike live television, where a failed attempt could hurt a wrestler’s momentum, house shows provide a safer environment to experiment without major consequences.

“For me, it doesn’t matter, but I think that’s one area where they really need to improve—getting more reps. Live events are important. We made our money in live events, but we also sharpened our skills and tried new things there. You don’t want to test something new or try out an idea on live TV and completely s*** the bed. Then you’re like, ‘Ooh, that might have hurt my rise in the company.’ But if you try it at a live event and it doesn’t work, no big deal. You learn from it and move on.”

The Deadman understands that WWE wants to protect wrestlers and keep them healthy, but he thinks regular matches are important to stay sharp. He compared it to the saying “iron sharpens iron,” meaning practice makes you better. Still, he admitted that today’s wrestlers might have a different opinion.

“I get that they’re trying to protect the talent, keep their bodies healthy, but iron sharpens iron. You need those reps to keep your body and skills sharp. That’s just my perspective, though. I don’t know how today’s WWE athletes see it.”

The Undertaker isn’t the only WWE Superstar who feels this way as CM Punk previously made it clear he missed the vast number of live events during the old regime. In the end, cutting down on events helps prevent injuries, but it’s important to balance wrestler health with skill development and The Undertaker simply feels WWE stars should know this.

Do you agree with The Undertaker’s concerns about WWE’s reduced live event schedule? Should the company increase house shows to help wrestlers improve, or is the new approach better for their health? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
